Jess T.
Education Manager
RVT
Hi, my name is Jess, and I am the Education Manager at TruVet. I am deeply invested in helping technicians grow both their skills and their confidence — and I bring a genuine passion for lifelong learning to everything I do.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking and herping with friends. I share my life with my partner Brian and a very full household of pets: six cats — Draymond, Stephanie, Jackie Moon, Michelle, Millie Jean, and Juno — and two dogs — Franklin, a puggle, and Romy, a lab mix.
Favorite Part of My Job
I really enjoy it when my technician colleagues learn new skills and gain confidence. Watching someone grow from uncertain to capable is one of the most rewarding things I have experienced in this field. My advice: be open to learning new and different methods, and never be afraid to ask questions.
Why I Chose This Profession
My love of biology and wildlife drew me into veterinary medicine, and my passion for teaching kept me there. I found that the best way I could contribute to animal care was not just by caring for patients myself, but by helping build a team of skilled, confident, and compassionate technicians.
Education
I hold a Master of Science in Biology from Sonoma State University and have been a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) since 2016.
Professional Background
My background is unusually broad — from emergency veterinary care to zoo medicine to wildlife biology. That depth informs the education programme I built at TruVet and the way I approach mentorship. I am passionate about creating a culture of curiosity, openness, and continuous learning within our technical team.
Work History
I have been in veterinary medicine since 2011, with experience spanning wildlife rehabilitation, general practice, zoo medicine, and emergency care. Outside of clinical practice, I have worked as a wildlife biologist specialising in California herpetology. I originally built TruVet's education and training programme and rejoined the team as Education Manager at the end of October 2025, having continued to support TruVet in a relief capacity in the interim.
