Julie R.

Hospital Administrator

RVT, BA, PHRca, CVPM

Hi, my name is Julie, and I am the Hospital Administrator at TruVet. With over 34 years in veterinary medicine, I am proud to still call myself a Registered Veterinary Technician at heart — and to lead a team that shares my deep commitment to compassionate care.

Personal Hobbies and Interests

Outside of work, I enjoy crafts, sewing, and refinishing furniture. Most importantly, I cherish spending time with my family and my three beloved pets: Zack the Border Collie, Zena the Warrior Princess, and Zeke the Geek.

Favorite Part of My Job

My favourite aspect of the veterinary industry is witnessing the bond formed between patients and staff, fuelled by compassion, patience, and attentiveness. I believe that bond plays a pivotal role in each patient's journey towards recovery.

Why I Chose This Profession

Veterinary medicine chose me as much as I chose it. From my earliest days as a technician, I knew this field offered something rare — the opportunity to genuinely make a difference for animals and the people who love them, every single day.

Education

I began my career at Western Career College in Sacramento, California in 1992. I later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Organisational Management with a specialisation in Human Resource Management in 2011. I hold certifications including Fear Free, Professional Human Resource – California (PHRca), Certified Compassion Fatigue Professional (CCFP), and Disaster Preparedness and Response for Animals through FEMA and the National Disaster Medical System (NVRT).

Professional Background

I bring over three decades of veterinary experience and leadership to my role at TruVet. My background spans clinical care, human resources, staff training, and hospital administration, giving me a well-rounded perspective on what it takes to run an exceptional veterinary practice.

Work History

My career has taken me through an extraordinary range of specialties including Avian and Exotics, Laboratory Medicine, Emergency and Critical Care, Disaster Medicine, Oncology, Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Surgery. I have served in roles including Safety Coordinator, Training Coordinator, Practice Manager, and Hospital Administrator. I joined TruVet in February 2024 as HR Manager and became Hospital Administrator in July 2025.
