Melissa A.
Registered Veterinary Technician
I earned my Associate Degree in Health Studies from Western Career College (now Carrington College) and became a licenced RVT in 1996. I am also Fear Free Certified.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I am all about quality time with family and friends. I am the proud mum of three children spanning three different decades and am excited to soon become a grandma. At home I share my life with my pit bulls Hailey and Biggie and my four cats: Snickers, Beans, Ally, and Ash.
Favorite Part of My Job
What I love most about my work is witnessing the transformation of a sick pet returning to health and the pure joy it brings when they are reunited with their family. For me, it is a privilege to play a part in those heartwarming moments.
Why I Chose This Profession
After more than three decades in veterinary medicine, I still feel the same sense of purpose and fulfilment I felt on day one. This profession allows me to combine a love of science and animals with a genuine desire to help — and that never grows old.

Professional Background
Over 30 years of experience across general practice, specialty and emergency medicine, research, and education have given me a uniquely broad perspective on veterinary care. My Fear Free certification reflects my commitment to a gentle, thoughtful approach that helps even the most anxious pets feel safe and supported.
Work History
My career has taken me through nearly every corner of animal care, including general practice, specialty and emergency medicine, research at UCSF, and teaching as a veterinary technician instructor. I joined the TruVet team in June 2025.
