Riley Ellis
Cardiology
DVM
Coming August/September 2026!
Hi, my name is Dr. Ellis, and I am a veterinary cardiologist. I love every aspect of cardiology and am dedicated to providing precise, compassionate care for pets with complex cardiac conditions.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy camping with my husband, cooking, and spending time with my two cats, Jerry and Petunia.
Favorite Part of My Job
What I love most about cardiology is the depth and complexity it offers. Every case is an opportunity to truly understand what is happening with a patient's heart — and to make a meaningful difference in their quality of life. That never gets old.
Why I Chose This Profession
I grew up in Sonoma, California, surrounded by animals and always knew I wanted to work with them in a meaningful way. Cardiology drew me in with its combination of precision diagnostics and the profound impact that early intervention and thoughtful management can have on a patient's life.
Education
I completed my undergraduate studies at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, earning a Bachelor of Science in 2017. I then earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of California, Davis in 2022. Following veterinary school, I completed a small animal rotating internship at Colorado State University before beginning my cardiology residency, also at CSU.
Professional Background
I am a residency-trained veterinary cardiologist with a special interest in feline heart disease and the management of heart failure. I love every aspect of cardiology and am committed to providing the highest standard of care for pets with complex cardiac conditions.
Work History
After completing my internship at Colorado State University, I stayed on to complete my residency training in cardiology. I am currently finishing that residency and am excited to be joining TruVet.
